PREDISPOSITIONS
Interest in health, active lifestyle, ability to establish contacts, communicativeness, high personal culture, emotional stability, patience, consistency, consistency, willingness to help others, knowledge of at least one foreign language.
WHAT SUBJECT IS IMPORTANT TO PASS DURING A MATURITY EXAM?
A modern, foreign language and 2 subjects from the following: Polish language, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, mathematics.
CARRIER
The graduating student will be a fully prepared specialist in the design of a healthy life through the promotion of physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Through comprehensive preparation, he/she will:
- know the role and importance of lifestyle, including physical activity and nutrition, in the prevention of health problems in children, adults, and older people;
- be able to apply health-promoting physical activity, active forms of tourism, wellness and psychosomatic measures and methods for the improvement of health and quality of life;
- be able to work with the public to shape public health at local and national levels, including campaigning and organising health promotion events.
The graduate will be prepared to work with both individual clients and/or small groups of people of different ages and physical/motor fitness levels, in a variety of settings or field conditions, as
- Physical Activity Instructor or personal trainer;
- Wellness and Massage Instructor;
- health promoter, health promotion and health education specialist, and leisure animator.
Examples of workplaces include:
- sports and fitness clubs, holiday and leisure centres, sports, and rehabilitation camps, agri-tourism centres, tourism industry operators;
- wellness centres, massage salons, spas, hotel spa facilities, overweight and obesity treatment centres, nursing homes, beauty&SPA operators, cruise ships;
- governmental or local authorities as well as non-governmental organisations (associations, foundations) associated with activities promoting health and active lifestyles.
The graduate will be prepared to be self-employed in a wide range of health-promoting physical activity.
SCHEDULE
The contents of education includes:
- Biomedical basis of health and physical activity.
- Psychological determinants of health and physical activity.
- Recreational forms of physical activity.
- Medical means of health training and wellness.
- Active forms of tourism.
- Coaching and health promotion.
During the course of study, students gain knowledge in the field of:
- biomedical basis of health and physical acticity, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics;
- fundamentals of psychosomatic regeneration;
- wellness: classical massage, Spa&Wellness massage, Active forms of body&mind, elements in wellness;
- recreational forms of physical activity for people of any age: sport games, fitness and gymnastics, dance, strength training;
- summer and winter outdoor physical activity by the water and in the mountains;
- active forms of tourisms: hiking, cycling, mountain tourism;
- climbing, survival, bushcraft;
- premedical first aid;
- health psychology and mental training;
- health coaching;
- health training;
- health education;
- organisation of health promotion events and campaigns;
- marketing of health and recreation-oriented services.
PLACE OF CLASSES
Opole, Prószkowska St. 76 Opole (2nd Campus of Opole University of Technology) and outdoor activities (by the water, in the mountains, in the forests and parks). For the away classes, participation may involve payment (e.g. season tickets, equipment rental, travel and accommodation).
FIRST CYCLE DEGREE PROGRAMME
The studies last 6 semesters in the daily, full-time mode - S (on site).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The first-degree programme leads to a Bachelor's degree, in addition to which the student will be able to obtain the following qualifications during the course of study:
- Physical Activity Instructor for indoor or outdoor activities;
- Wellness and Massage Instructor;
- Nordic Walking Instructor.
