REQUIREMENTS
Admission to second-cycle (Master’s) studies requires a Bachelor’s degree or a long-cycle Master’s degree.
Candidates who have completed a degree in a field related to physical activity, sport, or physiotherapy are eligible to apply. Graduates of pedagogical and psychological fields may also be admitted, provided that they have achieved learning outcomes corresponding to those required for the programme and possess adequate preparation to undertake studies including specialised content. In the case of candidates who have completed a programme with a similar curriculum and comparable learning outcomes, it is possible to supplement any missing learning outcomes during the admission process.
PREDISPOSITIONS
The Adapted Physical Activity programme is designed for individuals who wish to combine their interests in physical activity, health, and sport with professional work supporting others. The curriculum prepares highly qualified specialists capable of designing, implementing, and coordinating physical activity programmes tailored to individuals with diverse functional needs, including persons with disabilities and chronic conditions. Due of these, candidate’s predispositions includes interest in health, active lifestyle, ability to establish contacts, communicativeness, high personal culture, emotional stability, patience, consistency, consistency, willingness to help others, knowledge of at least one foreign language.
CARRIER
The graduating student will be a fully prepared specialist in areas related to health, education, sport, and social support. Thanks to their interdisciplinary training, they can pursue careers in the public, non-governmental, and private sectors.
Employment opportunities include, among others:
- government and local administration, as well as non-governmental organisations (foundations, associations),
- educational institutions,
- sports organisations and associations (including Paralympic), as well as recreational clubs,
- hospitals, sanatoria, rehabilitation clinics, and care centres,
- self-employment in the field of physical activity, health, and recreational services.
Graduates may work in positions such as:
- adapted physical activity instructor or coach,
- physical activity and health promotion specialist,
- coordinator of health and sport programmes,
- educational support specialist (including inclusive education),
- specialist in rehabilitation centres and healthcare institutions,
- organiser of sport and recreational events,
- advisor or consultant in adapted physical activity,
- entrepreneur running their own business.
The programme offers broad career opportunities and flexibility in shaping individual career paths.
SCHEDULE
The contents of education includes:
- Biomedical foundations of human functioning and physical activity.
- Practice of adapted physical activity.
- Pedagogical and psychological preparation.
- Modern tools and inclusive approach.
- Organisation, management and professional development.
The curriculum covers, among others:
- biomedical foundations of human functioning, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, ergonomics, and pathophysiology of selected conditions and disabilities;
- functional diagnostics and the ICF classification as a basis for planning interventions;
- nutritional and supplementation support in the context of physical activity;
- teaching methodology, movement analysis and assessment;
- practical forms of adapted physical activity conducted in various environments (indoor, aquatic, outdoor, summer and winter conditions);
- adapted training and occupational therapy in work with individuals with diverse needs;
- working with children, adults, older adults, and persons with disabilities or chronic conditions;
- pedagogy and didactics (including adapted physical activity didactics), as well as general and developmental psychology;
- psychological aspects of disability and rehabilitation, communication skills and voice emission;
- modern solutions in accessibility, including assistive equipment and medical devices;
- sensory integration, inclusive education and universal design principles;
- organisation of sport and recreational events and health promotion activities;
- principles of project development and funding in public and non-governmental sectors;
- counselling and consultancy in adapted physical activity;
- preparation for self-employment and implementation of professional initiatives.
The programme also offers elective courses aligned with individual interests (e.g. exercise physiology, health promotion, social rehabilitation), enabling students to shape their own educational and career pathways.
PLACE OF CLASSES
Opole, Prószkowska St. 76 Opole (2nd Campus of Opole University of Technology) and outdoor activities (by the water, in the mountains, in the forests and parks). For the away classes, participation may involve payment (e.g. season tickets, equipment rental, travel and accommodation).
SECOND CYCLE DEGREE PROGRAMME
The studies last 4 semesters in the daily, full-time mode - S (on site).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The first-degree programme leads to a Master's degree, in addition to which the student will be able to obtain the following qualifications during the course of study:
- Adapted physical activity instructor,
- Adapted physical activity trainer,
- a certificate of pedagogical and psychological preparation.
